Watch My Mammogram

Why do I want to share my mammogram with you? For starters, to remind women how important it is to get your annual test. I’m always reminded of a relative who skipped one mammogram and later had a double mastectomy. Cancer is stressful, and you can eliminate that stress with early detection with a mammogram.

According to the American Cancer Society, “Breast cancer is sometimes found after symptoms appear, but many women with breast cancer have no symptoms. This is why regular breast cancer screening is so important. The most common symptom of breast cancer is a new lump or mass, but other symptoms are also possible.”

How old should you be to start getting mammograms? According to Mayo Clinic, doctors offer mammograms beginning at age 40 and continuing annually. When to begin mammogram screening and whether to repeat it every year or every other year is a personal decision based on your preferences. It’s also based on whether or not you are in a high-risk category based on genetics.

I also like to share my mammogram so that women can see that even though there is some discomfort, it’s far better than the discomfort of cancer. I always reward myself after my mammogram with a treat. Most of the time, dark chocolate is involved.

So ladies, watch my YouTube video below and get your mammogram scheduled. You will be glad you did!
